- Web Skeleton -Ryan, Lexi
-
- Fall semester Ryan set up the server using flask as a back-end on the school’s public servers. We are able to send and receive that data to the Sparkfun arduino board in the external location at the chicken coop.
- Push Notifications -Armando
-
- Armando is currently implementing the push notification features. We will be working on sending any push notifications from the back-end so that all results will be quick to reach the user.
- Prototype Results - Everyone
-
- After a successful first meeting discussing the issues we had with version 1 we know where to move forward in the following weeks. The prototypes battery ran under expected values, the scale was running too long and we believe the values of the scale are being effected by temperature as well.
- Fixing the battery issues - Amine, Alex, Ryan
-
- After analyzing the results of the first run of the prototype from winter break we found that there were issues maintaining battery life and battery usage far exceeded expected results. We then examined board and found that the scale was not shutting off at the right times. Using a multimeter to check what was going on we found that the clock pin and the voltage line were drawing power constantly. This was resolved by switching to using a GPIO pin on the board instead of the 3.3v pin on the board. We also added some shut off and power up commands to the scale so that it’d only allow certain uses for the scaling features to run.
Plans for the next weeks:
- Front-end - Lexi
-
- Add functionality to display the current levels of feed and water at the coop.
- Push Notifications - Armando Vila
-
- Get the first ping sent from an alert from the back-end
- Prototype Status - Alex L.
-
- Getting version 2 of the prototype in an operational state so that once we are ready to set it up for another run it can be quickly set-up.
- Water condition Monitoring - Alex G
-
- Getting the results of the water temp sensor to be read out to the board an added to the data sent will done.
- Monitoring Battery Levels - Amine, Ryan
-
- After setting up the board to use the GPIO pins we are waiting on another sensor to come in this week. Once that is available we will be monitoring the battery life of the current prototype to make sure it reaches acceptable times.
Pending Issues:
- Waiting on parts deliveries. - Everyone
- Choosing a schema for the portal. - Lexi
